Move over, mouse: Gartner

The computer mouse might be on its way out, according to a Gartner researcher. The rapid rise of other computer interface tools, notably the Wii remote and the touchscreen interface (iPhone and others), suggests that they could supplant the generation-old mouse. Additionally,

[Steven Prentice, vice president and Gartner Fellow] highlighted home entertainment efforts from Panasonic which employ hand and facial recognition techniques to display information in place of a conventional remote control.

These devices could supplant the mouse for many, but not all, users.
