Blackboard wins patent suit against Desire2Learn
A Texas court determined that Desire2Learn infringed on Blackboard's course management system (CMS) patent. The Lufkin judge awarded $3.1 US in damages (out of $20 million claimed).
In a statement on their patent information site Desire2Learn vowed to maintain customer service. Moreover,
While we are disappointed that the jury did not agree with our position, we will continue to challenge the patent's validity and Blackboard's charges of infringement. We are currently evaluating our next steps.
